Several NGO’s in Uganda cover the domain of Human Rights. One of them, CEHURD ( Center for Health, Human Rights and Development) requested the support of the Hélène De Beir Foundation in organising a two-days « Civil Society Workshop on Promotion Accountability in Health Rights Advocacy ».
Professor Ooms, of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medecine opened the sessions, offering to the representatives of 15 local NGO’s as well as of the government a tool whereby an assesment can be made of the way Authorities fulfill their duty to provide health care to every citizen, and this, on the basis of facts and figures out of daily life.
The Right to Health is not inscribed in the Constitution of Uganda, as it is p.ex. In Belgium.
